PUNB was set up on 17th July 1991 under Malaysian  Companies Act 1965 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Yayasan Pelaburan Bumiputra (YPB). PUNB was established to increase the participation of Bumiputera in retail sector and inline with National Development Policy (NDP) to build a dynamic, resilient and progressive Bumiputera Commercial and Industrial Community (BCIC).
 
PUNB's mission is to provide a platform for inspiring Bumiputera entrepreneur to achieve success in business through financial and corporate support. PUNB offers integrated entrepreneurship package in two major sectors : Small and Medium Enterprises Sector (SME) and Retail Sector (PROSPER). Through business financing, PUNB offers financial support based on Shariah.
