JOHOR BHARU: Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad (PUNB) has allocated RM200mil to be distributed as loans to entrepreneurs who needs funding for their businesses.
PUNB chairman Khairy Jamaluddin said that the allocation would be distributed through their schemes to aid Bumiputera entrepreneurs in starting up their businesses.
“We hope to reach out to more Bumiputeras who needs our financial assistants to start up their own business,” he said during the official launching of the PUNB southern region branch office here on April 1.
He added that PUNB would be focusing on sectors such as telecommunication, automotive, hardware, and even pre-school education for loans distribution this year.
“A total of RM9.53 million had been allocated for loans in the southern region this year and up-to-date only RM1mil has been distributed.
“The Johor branch can also process loans up to RM500,000, making it convenient for applicants in the southern region,” he added.
Khairy said that PUNB also hopes to aid more young entrepreneurs in starting off their business.
“One does not need a track record to be eligible for the loan, if the younger generation can come up with creative ideas and a strategic plan, we will not hesitate to aid them,” he added.
He also that PUNB and Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA) were working closely for allocations of business premises for the PUNB applicants.
“We are hoping to help the applicants in every way possible, and starting up a business requires a premise,” he said adding that IRDA will also keep a lookout for potential entrepreneurs.
Khairy added that RM10mil of the overall allocation would be distributed to young entrepreneurs in need of financial aid to kick-start their business.
